Day 16: From Hardin, MT to Sheridan, WY: 84 miles

So we crossed our third state line, into Wyoming. We started to leave earlier due to the group consensus for a race to beat the heat, which puts us out of camp every day by 6 or 630am. The ride was pretty tough, a headwind and 90 degree heat dampened my mood but we stopped at a bar after 60 miles for some pop and chips and then powered out the last 25 miles. We had a pace line going for awhile with an average speed of 18mph compared to the 14 or so I was doing alone. Drafting and having someone block your wind makes such a difference but the riders ended up going too fast for my body to be comfortable with so I dropped back. I was soon followed by 3 others and at the state line, we all caught up with each other and everyone was completely pooped and out of breath. Apparently the speed was too fast for everyone but nobody wanted to say anything.

After getting into our KOA camp, Nelle's mom took us to historical downtown (2.5 miles away). We went cowboy boot shopping and ate at "The Pony." I had a chicken salad followed by ice cream (of course) for dessert from a place that we once again convinced to open their doors after hours for "the bikers riding cross country for the American Lung Association." They made homemade cones and I got a cookie MnM one...amazing.

Apparently this bar is one of the most famous bars around, looked like a whole lot of taxidermy to me
